Celebrate the Wedding of the Year with a “Royal” Viewing Tea Party!

What is arguably the “Wedding-of-the-Year” is set to take place this Saturday! Everybody is all a buzz, getting their favorite fascinator hats ready for the event. If you’re one of the millions that’ll be tuning in to the nuptials, why not have a celebration (or sleepover, for those of you on the West Coast!) with you and your closest friends?

The ceremony begins at noon local time in England, but for those of us in the United States, here’s when we can catch the main event:

  • 7 a.m. EST
  • 1 a.m. PST

We think having an “Afternoon Tea” themed soiree is a fitting idea. As Americans, many of us are probably a bit unfamiliar with the idea of Afternoon Tea, so what exactly is it? Afternoon Tea was introduced in Britain in the early 1840s as an afternoon tea-related ritual that involves a mini meal to stem the hunger and anticipation of that evening’s meal. Typically, Afternoon Tea is a meal composed of finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, sweet pastries, cakes, and of course, tea.

While the news outlets are covering all of the events leading up to the ceremony, why not enjoy some Afternoon Tea (or very early morning tea in America’s case) with your guests? Choose a delicate tablecloth to set the scene, and use elegant tiered stands to showcase the finger sandwiches and assorted sweets.

The tea is the main event, so it should be the star of the table. Choose an eye-catching tea service, like that from our Old Luxembourg collection. Old Luxembourg will give your tea party that classic, fine china look! Old Luxembourg was our first and oldest porcelain pattern. Designed in Europe, Old Luxembourg has been cherished for 250 years! A collection with such rich heritage sets the perfect mood for such a historic event!

Of course, if you prefer a different style, Villeroy & Boch offers a number of tea sets in a variety of different patterns.
